Golden Spirit’s Story

Our Story

Since 2006, Golden Spirit Alpaca owners Brenda and Frank Crum have been creating fleece and conformation one story at a time. Located in Odessa, Florida,  Brenda and Frank create a healthy environment all year long for their 150-some alpaca.  With 75 grazing acres, a highly skilled team, and facilities for the alpaca’s protection, Golden Spirit’s award winning animals receive unparalleled care and attention.

Our Focus

At Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch we strive to preserve the health of our animals with a continual focus on quality. Our husbandry practices, feed, supplies and other needs are developed in consultation with our veterinarian, agricultural management company, feed specialists and of course, other breeders.

What we do: Know our animals, study, monitor and enjoy!

  • KNOW

We know our animals and work with them enough to appreciate their personalities and general appearances so that we can anticipate individual needs.
  • STUDY

We study nutritional values. Water tests, annual soil tests and hay analysis combined with quality grain and supplements help us know the nutrient levels we are feeding. We compare what we provide with their blood work to determine actual value and absorption.
  • MONITOR

We routinely monitor health needs including weights and body score, histograms and behaviors at Golden Spirit. This also allows us to handle the animals enough so that they are comfortable with the routines.
  • ENJOY

We do enjoy! Our "huggable investments" are fun to watch and even more fun when we are involved in their antics. Play time gives them a chance to "work off" their energy and it gives us a chance to emotionally relax after our day of work.
